On 12/11/2017, a repair technician was sent to my residence concerning a gas dryer issue. The repair technician never opened the dryer, never used a tool, merely looked under the dryer a few times and diagnosed the problem as needing a valve assembly costing around $291.00 dollars on a 14 year old dryer.
I declined the estimate. I contacted a friend of mine by telephone, explained the issue, and he suggested it was a simple repair of changing the coil valves. The valves cost $22.50 and took me around 15 minutes to fix. I contacted Sears Home Service to complain and was told that even though the diagnosis was incorrect, it was still a diagnosis and the diagnosis fee was non refundable.
The technician and Sears were rewarded $89.00 for making an incorrect diagnosis while not using a single tool.
WOW!! What a SHAM!!!!
